I felt for a long time that I couldn’t do a two-tone hair color because it would make me look like I was trying too hard not to look like a 50-something woman. I finally took the plunge and did a skunk stripe red and blonde all over my head. It was a bit too obvious and my daughters said, “Stop.”
For the last five to seven years I’ve been coloring underneath my hair somewhat medium red and touching the gray “tops” that didn’t start becoming that way until I started coloring my hair.
My husband once told his mother that I was lucky that I only had to color underneath my hair. Ha ha! He’s so sweet!
The other thing I always wanted to do was color my nails a bright, primary color. It wasn’t until I met an artist, Jo Louise, that I started taking up that fashion statement. Not only do people give me frequent compliments on the color, I’ve had several people ask me if I know Jo Louise because that’s the exact color she wears down to the brand and color name: Sinful Colors, Endless Blue.
Last week, I bought a hat. The indigo blue straw-like, brimmed hat makes my eyes pop and looks great with my hair colors. The lesson here for me is: do what makes you happy. Be brave. Be an individual. Don’t let others define what makes you feel good and brings you joy. You do you……
