I had no intention of getting up at 6:00 a.m. today. Only thing I can attribute this “rude” awakening to is a childhood of watching British Royal celebrations. Thanks Mom!
It always takes me by surprise when I get teary-eyed over such celebrations as the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. But, I am so happy I did.
This has to be a wedding that will go down through the ages as a shake up of tradition — and a very good one indeed. From the speaker, Bishop Michael Curry (first African American bishop and primate) to “Stand by Me” sung during the service, to the chorus of “Amen” performed as the couple boards their carriage as a wedded couple. What a spectacle — and I mean that in a great way!
The most impact this event had on me was the sermon given by Bishop Curry. I can’t wait for the transcript to be published. What a message to be broadcast to a billion estimated viewers. Love is power. Love makes us all family. “I love you,” Curry says to Harry and Meghan. Breath-taking.
I can’t wait to see where this marriage takes the royals. It will be an interesting time in their history.
After watching every moment of Downton Abbey over the past few years, I have a different perspective of how all this was discussed and approved by the queen. Must have been weeks of discussion.
If you get a chance, watch this ceremony, especially Bishop Curry’s address. I feel like I was taken to church today. God bless Meghan and Harry and God Save the Queen.
