On the way to San Diego driving from Las Vegas on Highway 15, Keith and I started to see signs to Eddie World. As they were repeated in roadside ads and the fact that my father-in-law was Eddie, we had to stop on our way back to Vegas. It could have something to do with the fact that the Eddie World sign was a HUGE neon ice cream sundae in brilliant colors!
Billed as a convenience store, the place was more of a high-end candy shop, Jedidah’s Jerky counter, gourmet food, in addition to a Peet’s Coffee stand. And, of course, the ice cream shop in the store’s corner turret. I had caramel swirl and Keith had Oreo ice cream. Both were delicious.
The store offered counter after counter of Eddie’s own candy, nuts, popcorn and more. And there were drink coolers and gifts for children. You could even get an Eddie World t-shirt.
This store is the first bastion of whimsy between the Nevada/California state line and Yermo and is a welcome, whimsical and clean stopover. You should go……
