“New”tritarian or “Nut”tritarian

On January 1, 2018, I was invited to join “Choosing Health for 365 Days” by a dog fostering friend. I am so thankful for this group in my life as they are affirming and have so many great ideas about healthy eating and fitness.

One of the women in this group suggested I try the Nutritarian Diet. Honestly, I thought it was the “Nut-tritarian” Diet because one of the food choices they suggest it eating one to two ounces of nuts or seeds daily. Now I realize it is pronounced, “new-tritarian”. Silly me.

Other tenets of this eating plan, is eating a one-half to one cup of beans every day. Trust me, it took a few weeks to adjust to eating beans regularly, lol. There was a bit of stomach distress, but I soon got used to it.

Another guideline is to eat a main dish salad each day and three pieces of whole fruit. I now buy a large container of spring greens and enough whole fruit to keep a glass tray of pineapple, oranges, cutis and applies in plain sight which makes me mindful of the fact that I should grab a fruit! I’ve also learned to use leftover roasted chicken, fruits, cheese, seeds or nuts and organic salad dressing to make delicious salads for lunch or dinner. I also try to get the mushrooms and onions in my daily selections that nutiritarian diets suggest.

At this point, I’ve lost 14 pounds with only seven more to go and I feel great! I also do yoga two to three times a week and workout at the gym at least three times a week. Getting healthy feels so good and helps with my arthritis and I just feel good.

The nutritarian diet guidelines that we sent to me (thank Erin!) can be found at:
